Please email Bare Necessities at info@cruisebare.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Travel insurance polices that include CFAR coverage allow a passenger to cancel their travel and receive back a percentage of their travel costs. For John Hancock, Manulife, and Faye, this figure is 75%.
CFAR must typically be purchased within 14-days of the initial deposit date for US residents, and within 72-hours for Canadian residents. For the Scenic Eclipse II cruise, that window begins on 10/26/23 with John Hancock, Manulife, and Faye. That is the date cancellation penalties become applicable, thereby marking the initial deposit date for travel insurance purposes. For anyone booking prior to 10/26/23, their initial deposit date for insurance purposes is 10/26/23. Anyone booking on 10/26/23 or later will have a deposit date matching the date that the cruise was booked.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THOSE BOOKING PRIOR TO 10/26/23 and wanting time-sensitive coverages (CFAR, pre-existing medical conditions, etc.) from providers other than John Hancock, Manulife, or Faye: Please ask for written confirmation that your effective date of deposit for insurance purposes will be 10/26/23, based upon the cruise being refundable without penalty up to that date. John Hancock and Manulife have provided Bare Necessities written confirmation of this important point. A statement from Faye is at the bottom of this page.
You are not required to buy CFAR coverage. Passengers can choose self-insure against the possibility that they will cancel their non-refundable Bare Necessities cruise for reasons not covered by the less expensive traditional travel insurance.
At this time, there is no requirement from Scenic that all passengers must have traditional travel insurance. If this changes, Bare Necessities will notify its passengers.
Policies including a CFAR coverage are priced according to insured amount and the age of the travelers. A recent John Hancock example based upon a couple aged 65 and 70 was approximately 19% of the insured amount.
